Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): Asukhuto Village Baptist Church (AVBC) has organised a farewell-cum-thanksgiving service in honour of its pastor, Rev. Dohekhu, on attainment of 50 years of his service on January 13 in the church premises.
Rev. Dohekhu Achumi, in his keynote address, expressed gratitude to AVBC for organising the programme in his honour.
Rev. Dohekhu Achumi was born in 1940 at Asukhuto village. He dedicated himself to Christ and served as pastor of Khewoto Village Baptist Church under SBAK from 1969 till 1983. In 1984, he also served as youth leader. From 1985, he served as pastor of Asukhuto Village Baptist Church till January 2019 spanning 34 years. Licensed in the year 1981 under SBAK Aizuto, he was ordained in the year 2000 by Rev. Khehovi Shohe SBAK executive secretary, Nito Mount.
During his 50 years of service, he baptised 187 followers of Christ and ministered 30 believers in Holy matrimony ceremony.
On the occasion, Rev. Hukugha Zhimo, SBAK secretary, congratulated Rev. Dohekhu Achumi on his successful completion of 50 years in God’s ministry. He has ascribed Rev. Dohekhu Achumi as a true disciple of Christ.
Rev. Hukugha Zhimo also released a souvenir commemorating 50 years of Rev. Dohekhu Achumi’s ministry.
Inoka Khuju, pastor of Vekuho New Baptist Church, pronounced the invocation, while a farewell song was presented by Toli Aye and friends and scripture reading was led by Khekivi, youth leader.
Short messages were delivered by Rev. Ahoto Awomi, evangelist SBAK Nito Mount; Tsungato Aye, GB; Lupishe Aye, Atoizu area church leaders’ fellowship (AACLF); and Tokishe, deacon chairman. The programme was chaired by Vilitoli, associate women pastor, and the benediction was said by Khetovi Chophy, pastor of Vekuho Old Baptist Church.
