Asufii Christian Institute in Manipur celebrated receiving autonomous status from the University Grants Commission.

DIMAPUR — Asufii Christian Institute (ACI), Punanamei, Senapati district, Manipur, celebrated the conferment of Autonomous Status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on May 9.
According to an update from ACI, the celebration was attended by Armstrong Pame, Joint Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Higher Education, as the chief guest, and Brigadier Anshuman Tripathi, DIG, 22 Sector Assam Rifles, as guest of honour.
In his address, Pame congratulated the institute on attaining autonomous status and appreciated the progress made by ACI in the field of higher education.
He encouraged the institution to utilise autonomy as an opportunity to promote academic innovation, research, quality education, and the holistic development of students.

Reflecting on his own life journey, he emphasised the role of parents in shaping the future and success of their children and urged students to remain disciplined, focused, and determined in their academic pursuits.
Brigadier Anshuman Tripathi lauded the institution for nurturing young minds and emphasised the importance of discipline, integrity, and commitment in building responsible citizens and future leaders.
The celebration featured cultural performances presented by ACI and ACS students, showcasing the heritage, talent, creativity, and spirit of the student community.
The celebration reflected the aspirations, unity and pride of the community and reaffirmed ACI’s commitment to becoming a centre of excellence in higher education.
Principal of ACI Dr. Daili Neli, in his welcome address, described the conferment of autonomous status as a defining moment in the institution’s journey and the beginning of a new era marked by academic excellence, innovation, accountability, and greater responsibility.
The principal reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to providing quality higher education rooted in values, integrity, and service to society.
A special message titled “ACI, thus far” from L Dikho, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur and founder and chairman of ACI, was delivered by his personal assistant and PRO of the college, Kaisii Arche.
The message reflected on the vision, struggles, sacrifices, and achievements of the institution since its inception and encouraged the ACI community to continue striving for excellence, integrity, and meaningful contribution to society through education.
Special tribute was also paid to former principals Rev. Loli Kape and Dr. P Wungnaongam for their contributions in laying a strong academic foundation for the institution.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Registrar of ACI, Kaini Lokho, followed by the benediction pronounced by the chaplain of ACI, SK Abraham.
The programme was attended by community leaders, alumni, parents, faculty members, staff, students, and well-wishers.
Earlier, the event commenced with an invocation prayer led by Rev. A Pfokrelo, seeking God’s blessings upon the institution and the gathering.
