Dimapur, July 28 (EMN): In what could be termed as a major embarrassment for Dimapur’s prominent eatery namely ‘Bangkok Cafe and Cuisine,’ the Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) has condemned the unethical approach of the restaurant employees for defaming two of its bonafide members, which reportedly announced a reward through social media by announcing ‘reward in the form of a special gift and meal voucher worth one thousand rupees to the person who leads the management to the said individuals.’
Accounting the incident that took place on July 10, ASUD official said two of its member, who had dined at the ‘Bangkok Café and Cuisine’ left after paying their food bill along with tip. Within few hours of walking out of the eatery, they received calls from their friends informing about their snapshots taken from CCTV footage circulating through Whatsapp and Facebook accusing them of leaving without paying the food bill. What was more embarrassing for them was the announcement of reward by the eatery to any person who can reach out to them with their identity stating: they had forgotten a "very important thing".
When the matter was brought to the knowledge of the ‘Bangkok Cafe and Cuisine’ management, it was established that the management had done the damage without confirming the CCTV footage on July 11.
In this connection, it was agreed between the two parties that the management will render public apology through social media and local dailies within a stipulated time frame of twenty four hours.
However, till date the management had not rendered apology through local dailies as agreed in the ‘acknowledgement of mistake’ copy, lamented the ASUD official, which was also made available to Eastern Mirror.
ASUD officials, in a press note, has condemned the unprofessionalism displayed by employees of ‘Bangkok Cafe and Cuisine,’ who uploaded images of two of its diners humiliating and defaming the through social media by declaring a reward in the form of a special gift and meal voucher worth one thousand rupees to the person who leads the management to the said individuals, even after the diners have paid their bill in full.
“It is simply baffling that the management committed such a shameful act without properly confirming the CCTV footages. Moreover, as per an agreement arrived between the management and the defamed party, it was understood that a public apology would be tendered by the former not only on Facebook but in the local dailies within a stipulated time frame of twenty four hours. While the incident occurred on July 11 and enough time has lapsed, till date, no note of apology has been published by the management as agreed upon,” stated a press note from the ASUD president Lanutoshi Aier and general secretary Moayanger Jamir.
ASUD has demanded the management of ‘Bangkok Cafe and Cuisine’ to tender public apology in the local dailies at the earliest.
