Dimapur, March 22
Piqued by frequent law and order situations in State’s commercial town Dimapur, the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) today voiced out strongly against holding any ‘public rally’ or ‘agitation’ to allow peaceful co-existence of people from various backgrounds.
The ASTD asked the law makers to uphold the ‘rule of law’ and discharge their constitutional duties towards the public and ensure a democratic system in civilized public life. These views on prevailing situations were expressed at a meeting held here at ASTD treasurer’s residence today.
The ASTD said, ugly situations often prevail in the state due to lack of congenial political atmosphere.
On the sidelines of the meeting, ASTD president, Sobu Jamir felt that legislators should not remain within their four walls of security but maintain the rule of law and uphold the spirit of democracy.
He appealed to all elected members to leave aside all their internal differences and work for peace and development in the state.
The Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur also appealed to all the organizations or groups not to hold any rally or agitations or call for ban without the concern of all the Dimapur based organizations as Dimapur is the commercial place where people from all over the country live together.
