- DIMAPUR — The Assisi Centre for Integrated
Development, with the support of the National Domestic Workers' Movement (NDWM)
Nagaland Region, celebrated International Workers' Day on Thursday at the
Assisi Auditorium in Dimapur on the theme "Safety and health of workers”.
- According to a press release, the event aimed to honour the
dignity, rights, and contributions of workers across all sectors. The resource
persons were Advocate Priya Shyam and Sr. Sunita Miranda, Ursuline Franciscan
Congregation (UFC) provincial councillor.
- Speaking on the occasion, Sr. Pramila, director of Assisi
Centre for Integrated Development (ACID) and coordinator of NDWM Nagaland
Region, emphasised the importance of recognising and respecting the value of
every worker.

- Sr. Miranda delivered a session on failure management, where
she spoke about the common experiences of failure in life and the importance of
rising again, much like a child learning to walk. She also touched on mental
well-being, explaining the role of the brain's frontal cortex in controlling
our emotions and thoughts.
- Shyam highlighted the importance of safe and healthy working
conditions and stressed that every job, whether teaching, domestic work, or
factory labour, deserves respect and fair treatment.
- She spoke about workers' rights to minimum wages, equal pay,
safe environments, healthcare, and social security. She also raised awareness
about child labour, emphasising the importance of education for every child.
