Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): The first phase of district-level assessment camp for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) under District Mission Authority (DMA) SSA of Kohima district was held on Friday at Ura Academy Hall.
According to a DIPR report, the principal secretary of School Education and SCERT, Menukhol John said that the department would assess and try to provide the best equipments to children with locomotor disability, visual impairment and hearing impairment free of cost.
Adding that many children require surgical interventions, John said that the department is trying to tie up with certain hospitals in order to provide treatment to the children.
Reminding the children that every single one of them was special, John encouraged them not to think themselves as different from others.
While interacting with the department officials, the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Anoop Khinchi informed that more of such exercise would be conducted soon and advised the parents of Children with Special Needs to avail the opportunity.
The assistant district coordinator of SSA Kohima, Thongsenlo informed that the second phase of assessment camp would be held soon. Altogether 149 children attended the assessment camp on Friday.
An assessment camp was also conducted in Peren district for the children in need of special help on May 16 at EBRC, Peren town.
A total in number of 46 children who were in need of special help attended the assessment camp and availed the facility.
The contributors for the success of the camp were the official team from SMA, SSA Kohima along with Starkey Lab Noida, NRCC Dimapur, observers from Social Welfare Department, Sakhi.
The organisers of the assessment camp were Talitemsu Jamir, MD SSA Kohima; Vinay Bhushan, Head IB Starkey Lab, Noida; Supongwati Jamir, NRRC, Dimapur; Temsumanen Jamir, SSA Kohima; Ramdi Thou, senior DEO Peren; DMA (SSA); and staff of ERBC, Peren.
The assessment camp was conducted under the strict monitoring and supervision of DMA (SSA), Peren.
