To commemorate Children’s Day and to pay tributes to its founder Rev. Dr. TN Lotha, Assembly of God Higher Secondary School (AGHSS), Dimapur, conducted a jam session on Wednesday evening.
The programme also marked third year of the ‘school fest’ since its inception in 2016. The session, which was conducted in the school premise, witnessed variety of performances from well known artistes. Former Indian Idol (2009) Sourabhee Debbarma as well as two famous Naga artistes--Zuchobeni Tungoe and Tali Angh mesmerised the crowd with their presentation.

The school’s principal, David Ngullie, said the main objective of introducing artistes at the event was to let children have fun, be inspired and learn from them. “It is a known fact that Nagas are musically gifted. By conducting such programme, we hoped to encourage students and focus in the field of music in the future,” the principal added.

Advisor of Rural and Development and special guest, Neikiesalie Kire, was optimistic that conducting such programme will help student improve and learn better. He pointed out that majority of the parents often expressed displeasure when their children opt for extra-curricular activities like singing, playing football as their goal. “But, today one can see those people who are in the field of sports and arts are the highest paid people in the world,” he said adding “We cannot stop children from what they really wanted to be fulfilled.”
The school fest will conclude on November 15 with the annual fun fair on the second day of the programme.
