Dimapur, Feb. 20: Altogether 13 students team forming part of ‘National Integration Tour’ organised by 41 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) from School of Agricultural Science & Rural Development (SASRD), Dimapur, interacted with the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee at New Delhi on February 19.
During the interaction, the President acquainted himself with problems and issues faced by the youth of the region and encouraged them to contribute towards the development and well being of the region. Post interaction, a group photographs was organised with the President followed by visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In another programme, troops of 9 Assam Rifles organised an interaction with Gaon Burahs (GBs), Village Council Chairman (VCCs) and youth president at Chieswema Garrison on February 20.
Officers of 5 Sector Assam Rifles, GBs and chairman of four villages of Kohima sub division including Tsiesema Basa, Tsiesema Bawe, Merrima and Merrima Basa discussed well being of people, development programme and village issues.
Representative different villages attended the meeting with great enthusiasm and appreciated the efforts made by the Assam Rifles in maintaining peaceful environment in the region. Interaction culminated with tea and refreshments organised in the honour of village elders.
Meanwhile, 28 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a friendly volleyball match with local youth of Tseminyu on February 19. The match was keenly witnessed by many civilians.
In post match ceremony, token of appreciations were presented to the players who were also assured full support for promotion of sports and other events among the youth of Tseminyu.
