DIMAPUR — After prolonged deadlock over the expansion of Dimapur Airport, 18.8 acres of land under the occupation of Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), 3rd Mile, Chumoukedima, was formally handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Friday for Phase-I development works.
According to a DIPR update, the development marks the resolution of a prolonged land transfer deadlock that had stalled the airport expansion project for months despite repeated interventions by the Nagaland government and the Centre.
A joint execution programme for handing over and taking over of the land was held at the airport premises in Chumoukedima in the presence of officials from the AAI, Assam Rifles and the state government.

The team jointly inspected the identified 18.8-acre area located within the ARTC&S premises before formally executing the handing-over and taking-over process.
During Thursday’s meeting, officials also discussed the transfer of the remaining land presently under the occupation of ARTC&S for the Phase-II expansion plan.
However, it was agreed that further directives from the competent authorities would be required before the remaining areas could be transferred for the next phase of development.
