Dimapur, May 3 (EMN): Assam Rifles has announced to organise a motorcycle rally on theme ‘HIV/AIDS & drugs free Nagaland’ from May 5 to 11. The rally would be conducted in three legs to cover districts of Kohima, Kiphire, Zunheboto, Wokha, Dimapur, Peren, Tuensang and Mokokchung.
IGAR (N) had undertaken campaigns against drugs and HIV/AIDS and has been carrying out various activities in collaboration with government agencies as well as NGOs. The motorcycle rally is part of the campaign to create awareness amongst the people about the social menace of drugs and HIV/AIDS and motivate youth to make Nagaland drugs and HIV/AIDS free.
The motorcycle rally leg of Kohima - Kiphire – Zunebotto – Wokha would be flagged off on May 5 at 8 am. The event is open for all people to join in the crusade against the social menace of HIV/AIDS and drugs to save the next generation and provide them a healthy, happy and a long life.
The Assam Rifles, in a press release, stated that 20 bikers from Assam Rifles would participate in the motorcycle rally supported by the local bikers group from Kohima. The bikers would cover a distance of 563 kms covering Kohima- Jessami- Kiphire- Zunheboto- Wokha and back to Kohima.
Various theme based activities have been planned including lectures, skits, friendly volleyball matches with local teams, musical events, medical camps. Similar motorcycle rallies would be conducted in Dimapur – Medziphema- Jalukie from May 8-11 and in Tuensang – Mokokchung from May 9-11.
