DIMAPUR — The Shamator Battalion of Assam Rifles organised an educational lecture and interactive session at Straightway Mission School, Dan in Noklak on Tuesday to commemorate World Science Day for Peace and Development.
The initiative was part of the Assam Rifles’ outreach programme to promote education, awareness, and intellectual growth among students in remote and border regions of Nagaland, according to a press release.
The event aimed to nurture scientific curiosity and critical thinking among young learners while highlighting how science can act as a catalyst for peacebuilding, sustainable progress, and social transformation.
A total of 25 students, along with troops of the battalion, participated in the session. The lecture emphasised the significance of scientific awareness in daily life and the potential of youth-led innovation to promote harmony, resilience, and self-reliance within the community.

Addressing the gathering, the resource person from the battalion encouraged students to pursue knowledge with a spirit of inquiry and service, stating that science, when guided by ethics and empathy, can serve as a powerful tool for strengthening national unity and development.
The event concluded with a Q&A session during which students expressed keen interest in understanding how technological advancements and research contribute to building a peaceful and sustainable world.
