
DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles of Phek garrison handed over a newly renovated badminton hall in Phek town to the Phek Badminton Association (PBA) on February 13.
According to a press release, the hall, before being handed over, was inaugurated by the commandant of the Phek garrison. The ceremony was attended by Natuzo Lohe, President of the Phek Badminton Association, local leaders, youth organisation members, and residents.
It stated that the task of renovating the pre-existing court into a fully revamped badminton hall was undertaken by Assam Rifles as part of its civic action programme to provide a boost to sports enthusiasts and make sports facilities more appealing while also promoting the need for the younger generation to be physically fit and healthy.
The release mentioned that it now has a new, water-insulated roof and two fully equipped badminton courts with new mats. The entire seating area has been upgraded, with improved drainage facilities in case of rain, and the floors have also been reconstructed.
