Based on specific intelligence regarding ferrying of contraband item on NH 102, troops of the 24 Assam Rifles established a vehicle check post at Khudengthabi and apprehended a woman along with contraband precious Stones on Tuesday,says a press release of Assam Rifles. The apprehendee was identified as Mrs Laishram Ranjana Devi(31) daughter of Laishram Kulumani
Singh, a resident of Soibam Leikai Kananglabung Lairak village under Porompat police station in Imphal East district. She was travelling in a Maruti Van bearing Registration Number MN-05A-5193 and heading towards Imphal,the release said. During the frisking and checking, Seven uncut Stones (Pink colour), two cut Stones (Pink colour), four polished Stones (Lemon colour), one polished Stone (Pink colour), one polished Stone (Brown colour), one polished stone light (Blue colour), one polished Stone Dark (Blue colour), one polished Stone (White colour), nine polished Stones (Orange colour), three polished Stones (Yellow colour), thirty seven polished Stones (Brown colour), one PAN Card and a Driving License were recovered from her possession,it added. The apprehendee alongwith the recovered item has been handed over to the Customs Department, Moreh.
Overground workers arrested: Troops of the 2 Assam Rifles based on specific intelligence regarding presence of OGWs, along with Thoubal Police Commandos launched a joint operation in general area Wangjing Market and apprehended an over ground worker of People’s Liberation Army(PLA) on October 13,says PRO Assam Rifles(Souht) in a press release. The apprehendee was identified as Nongmaithem Naocha Singh (26) son of Late Kulla Singh, a resident of Heirok - III.
“He revealed that he is working under Manimohon of PLA. He was arrested earlier in 2013 and he had come to recruit two students into PLA under the instruction of Manimohon,” the release said. “In a follow up operation, another over ground worker of PLA was apprehended by the same team from the general area Salungpham Makha Leikai on same day.” The apprehendee was identified as Phuritsabam Manimohon Meitei(43) son of P Dharama Meitei, a resident of Salungpham Kangthokchao Maning Leikai. The apprehendee revealed that he has been working under Command of SS Sgt Thouba of PLA. He further stated that earlier he use to work under Command of SS Lt Benner of PLA and was arrested in connection with the transfer of explosives materials. After release from jail he again started working for PLA under SS Sgt Thouba. On instruction of SS Sgt Thouba, he recruited many students into PLA,it further added. The apprehendees were handed over to the Thoubal Police station.
