
Dimapur, June 9 (EMN): Jairampur Battalion of Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of IGAR (North) organised a medical camp at Jairampur town, Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh on June 4.
A defence update informed that the medical camp was aimed at providing gynaecologist consultation to females of the region. Nitumoni Gogoi, Gynaecologist, Mayflower Hospital, Margherita conducted lectures on PCOD, infertility, ovarian and breast cancer.
During the camp, 103 females were screened and necessary medicines were prescribed.
On June 5, 25 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a yoga session (Yoga for wellness) on the occasion of World Environment Day (WED) in Assam and south Arunachal Pradesh.
The event was organised as part of celebrations to WED and was aimed at promoting yoga among the villagers.
Khonsa Battalion of AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) celebrated ‘World Food Safety Day’ at Laju village, Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh on June 7.
The campaign was aimed at creating awareness about various food-borne diseases and precautions to be adhered to prevent it. The theme of the event was ‘Safer food, Better Health’, it stated.
On the occasion, a lecture was conducted on the benefits of healthy food habits and means to prevent lifestyle diseases.

Meanwhile in Nagaland, Kohima Battalion AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) celebrated WED on June 4 and 5th.
The activities included tree plantation drive at Kikruma village, Chakabama Naga village, Indira Gandhi Stadium complex and Kohima town, while exchange of saplings with Brahmakumaris, yoga session and cleanliness drive was held at Kohima garrison.
The aim of the activities was to spread awareness on the importance of a clean environment. A total of 466 tree saplings of various varieties were planted as part of the initiative.
In Aliba village, the Mokokchung Battalion of AR organised a medical camp for the residents on June 4.
The camp provided free check-ups for various diseases and sickness, preliminary diagnosis and treatment to the needy villagers. The team was led by a medical officer of the battalion, who treated about 300 people of Aliba and the surrounding villages.
Kiphire Battalion of AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a tree plantation-cum-cleanliness drive and lecture on WED at Mimi village, Kiphire on June 4.
Further, the Chieswama Battalion also conducted a plantation and cleanliness drive at Chieswema garrison on June 5. On the same day, the battalion further provided aid to 24 passengers at an accident site near Chiephobozou, Kohima.
The garrison, 5 Sect. AR, on getting information about the accident, reached the site with two ambulances and medical staff as first responders. Four critically injured patients were immediately provided first aid and were further evacuated to Naga Hospital, Kohima.
The rest of the injured passengers were provided first aid and gradually evacuated to Naga Hospital, Kohima with the help of locals, it said.
Tuensang battalion of AR under the aegis of IGAR (North) headquarters, inaugurated a water supply line and storage facility to Chanzu (Wangti) village in Mon district on June 7.
A press release stated that all the villagers including GBs and elders were present at the inauguration programme. The battalion provided medicines, a water pipeline and syntex tank for the local population.
In an unrelated incident, security forces, in a joint operation with Nagaland police, arrested two persons with illegal liquor from Kizare village road in Phek district on June 3.
The joint team recovered 36 cases of IMFL and 14 cases of Beer worth INR 2.85 lakh from their possession.
It added that the arrested persons along with seized items have been handed over to Meluri Police Station for further investigation.
Jalukie Battalion of AR conducted monsoon medical camp and lecture-cum-demonstration on breast examination for early detection of breast carcinoma at Nkwareu Village, Peren District, Nagaland on June 9.
A total of 142 individuals including school students of Ikiesing Memorial School, Nkawera benefitted from the medical camp.
Meanwhile in Assam, Joypor Battalion organised yoga session at DK Gaon village, Dibrugarh District, Assam on June 9. The event was organised as part of celebrations to International Yoga Day 2022.
