Rifles successfully conducted a 12-day National Integration Tour (NIT) for 20
residents from Oting village under Mon district. As part of the tour, the
participants visited Jorhat, Kaziranga, Delhi and Agra and experienced the
diversity, rich history and culture of India.
- A defence release stated that the tour was flagged-in by Lt.
Gen. Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding of Spear Corps, at
Rangapahar Military Station on Friday.
- The team comprised of diverse age group of the participants
with the oldest being 73 year and the youngest being 22 years.
- In Jorhat, the participants witnessed the state-of-the-art
aircrafts held by Indian Air Force. They also got an opportunity to ride on
safari and witnessed the fauna in their natural habitat.
- In Delhi and Agra, the participants experienced the rich
cultural heritage of the country, wherein they visited monuments like Qutub
Minar, Jantar Mantar, Chandni Chowk, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, etc.
While in Delhi, the participants also visited the National War Memorial, New
Parliament building and experienced travel in the Delhi metro.
- The GOC of 3 Corps, while interacting with them, emphasised
on importance of such initiatives in nurturing their minds and broadening their
perspectives.
- Meanwhile, the participants have thanked Indian army for
providing them a kaleidoscopic view on the unity of the country.
