Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): Changlang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) organised ‘International Day of Girl Child’ on October 12. The lecture was delivered by a unit doctor under the theme, “My Voice, Our Equal Future” in Anganwadi school of Rangkatu, Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, an update informed.
It added that the theme focused on gender equality and 'listening to what girls want, their dreams and aspirations.'
Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a security coordination meeting at Noglo on October 12.
The aim of the event was to review the security situation in the region and to develop cooperation between the locals and security forces, it informed.
Matters related to general situations in AOR, development activities, prevention of untoward incidents like extortion and kidnapping were discussed. 30 locals attended the event, it added.
The Khonsa Battalion also organised International Day of Girl Child at Lazu, and St Francis English Medium School, Dadam on October 11. 150 people from different villages in the AOR participated including girl students, block education officers, teachers, Lazu Police, PHC dept., it stated.
Various lectures and activities were carried out on awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide, inequality including access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and protection from discrimination, violence against women and child marriage. The programme also reflected the successful emergence of girls and young women and awareness about Inspirational women including in fields of business, aviation, armed forces, civil services, IPS, journalism etc.
Career opportunities for girls and women in armed forces, police, para military forces, journalism, aviation, hospitality, nursing etc., were also discussed.
Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) conducted a career counselling drive and medical camp at Mainamatsi on October 10. The villagers were also briefed about the various health and hygiene methods to be implemented during this crisis. The youths along with troops took part in a cleanliness drive around the village area, it informed. It added that 47 youths attended the lectures and 140 villagers were benefited from the medical camp.
