DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles organised a women entrepreneurs exhibition in Jalukie, conducted motivational lectures for troops in Chieswema and Kohima, and hosted newly commissioned officers of the Assam Regiment in Kohima between April 9 and the 11th.
Exhibition in Jalukie
In Jalukie, the Assam Rifles organised a two-day “Women entrepreneurs pop-up stalls exhibition” in collaboration with the Pink Blossom Society.
According to an update, the event brought together women from across the Peren district to showcase an array of initiatives and traditional craftsmanship.

The exhibition served as a marketplace for products including crochet handicrafts, handmade jewellery, and woven traditional jackets and mufflers. Attendees visited stalls featuring dried flower bouquets, local plants, and handpicked wild fruits, while the local cuisine and salad corner offered regional flavours. There were also handmade toys for children.
During the programme, Assam Rifles personnel highlighted the importance of following one’s passion and working towards fulfilling individual dreams. Representatives said hard work pays off and described the initiative as a platform to help local entrepreneurs gain recognition.
Motivational lecture for troops
In Chieswema Garrison, Kohima district, the Assam Rifles organised a motivational lecture for troops on April 11 with the aim of enhancing morale, reinforcing professional ethos and strengthening operational motivation among personnel.
The session was delivered by Colonel R K Sharma, KC, SC, SM (retd.), a decorated veteran of the Indian Army and former officer of the Assam Rifles.
Drawing from his operational experience, he shared insights from his participation in operations including Op. Vijay, Op. Parakram, Op. Bajrang, Op. Hifazat and Op. Rakshak.
He highlighted leadership under challenging conditions, mental resilience, discipline and teamwork as key factors in operational success.
The lecture was attended by all ranks and formed part of Assam Rifles’ efforts to foster morale, leadership and operational preparedness.
At Kohima Garrison, the Assam Rifles also organised a motivational lecture for troops at the Motivational Hall on April 9. The lecture was delivered by Colonel Sharma.
He encouraged troops to uphold the traditions of the force and remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties.
Hosts newly commissioned officers
Also in Kohima, the Assam Rifles hosted six newly commissioned young officers of the Assam Regiment on April 9 as part of their orientation training.
It was mentioned that the visit was aimed at familiarising the officers with the military heritage of the region while showcasing the professionalism and people-centric ethos of the Assam Rifles.
During the visit, the officers participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial of the Assam Regiment, Kohima. The ceremony was conducted with full military honours.
The officers were also taken for local sightseeing to provide insights into the geographical and cultural significance of the region. A briefing was also conducted on the historic Battle of Kohima.
