Assam Rifles held a cancer awareness lecture in Dimapur and celebrated the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ across Nagaland.

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles organised a Cancer Awareness Lecture on the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day in Dimapur on November 7.
A total of 35 civilians, including women and elderly members, attended the programme. The lecture focused on early detection, preventive care, and healthy lifestyle practices to reduce the risk of cancer, according to an update.
The resource person on the occasion spoke on warning signs, the importance of medical check-ups, and the effects of tobacco and alcohol. Participants were urged to spread awareness within their communities.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles commemorated the 150th anniversary of India’s national song, “Vande Mataram”, in Kiphire on November 7.
The event was organised with students and teachers from various schools of Kiphire district. Participants sang “Vande Mataram” together, followed by talks on its historical significance and its role during the freedom movement.
Patriotic song and essay competitions were also held. The initiative aimed to promote national integration and pride among the youth.

Jawahar Bal Manch of NPCC celebrates Children’s Day week with picnic
In Mokokchung, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Mokokchung district administration, organised a Unity Walk (padayatra) on November 6 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The event began at Town Hall and concluded at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. Around 1,200 participants, including Assam Rifles personnel, Nagaland Police, district officials, CRPF personnel, civil society members, and students, took part.
The event emphasised Sardar Patel’s vision of a united India and the importance of national integration. It concluded with a pledge to uphold unity and integrity.
Also, Assam Rifles personnel visited the Care and Support Children Home at Chungtia village, Mokokchung, on November 6, as part of its civic action initiative. The commandant interacted with the children and staff and distributed essential items and educational materials.
The visit aimed to support underprivileged children and strengthen relations with the local community.
