Assam Rifles observe World Environment Day

Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): 44 Assam Rifles: 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 7 Sector Assam Rifles, launched a wide-spread campaign to create awareness among its own troops and locals in the districts of Mokokchung and Longleng on the occasion of World Environment Day. On the occasion of the Battalion Headquarter of 44 Assam Rifles organised a massive tree-plantation drive and cleanliness drive. The troops were also cast a movie on the theme of ‘Environment’ to make them realise the importance of the cause. COB Dessoi also exhibited its exuberance in observing the day and organised a tree-plantation drive along with maintenance of the surroundings. COB Longleng also matched up the pace and organised lectures and maintenance of the environment to keep up the essence of the ‘World Environment Day’. IGAR (N): Assam Rifles under aegis of Headquarters IGAR (N) observed World Environment Day at Dimapur and Peren District.Troops of Assam Rifles participated with the civilians to make the surroundings cleaner and greener. Cleanliness drive was carried out at Zubza, Piphema and Medziphema; plantation of saplings at Nihokhu, Jhalukie, Athibung, Peren and Kupuhe villages and poster making and essay writing competition at Government Primary School, Chumukedima. 15 Assam Rifles: On the occasion of Environment Day, 15 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(North) celebrated the event incorporating students of Holy Angel’s School, Noklak. Activities like, tree plantation, drawing competition and cleanup campaigns were conducted and the winners of the drawing competition were given prizes. Tree plantation were also organised at Shamatore, C’ Saddle, and Dan. 35 Assam Rifles: 35 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 7 Sector Assam Rifles of HQ IGAR (N) celebrated World Environment Day in Schools and villages of Mon district. A lecture on environment awareness was conducted by Maj S D Sonar in Shalom School of Lungwa village. 500 saplings were also planted in Tizit and Naginimora and cleanliness drive was organised jointly in Tizit Sub Division by Assam Rifles personals and locals 40 Assam Rifles: 40 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) at Tuensang. Saplings were planted and importance of planting trees and saving the environment through plantation was emphasised. Around 200 fruit bearing and ornamental trees were planted. The children of Assam Rifles High School Tuensang organized an awareness rally displaying colourful banners and posters spreading awareness among all regarding importance of clean and healthy environment. On this occasion a painting competition and essay writing competition was also organised for the school. 7 Assam Rifles: 7 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (North) organised a tree plantation and cleanliness drive on the occasion of World Environment Day at Kiphire. 9 Assam Rifles: 9 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(North) in collaboration with Kalos Society, Pfutsero observed World Environment Day, under the theme “Clean India Green India” . Cleanliness drive was carried out in Pfutsero Town. the troops also distributed dustbin which are placed along the streets. The participants were exhorted to adopt a responsible behavior and bring about a change in their environment.
