Dimapur, July 21 (EMN): Mokokchung battalion of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (North) organised a medical camp in New Chungtia village under Mokokchung district on July 18.
A defence release stated that the camp was organised with an aim to provide medical aid including free check-up on various diseases, sickness and preliminary diagnosis and treatment to the needy villagers who were unable to avail proper medical facilities. A medical team of Assam Rifles provided medical aid to 150 villagers of New Chungtiya and surrounding villages and distributed medicines to the needy villagers.
It added that Assam Rifles launched the ‘Join Indian Army Agnipath campaign’ and also distributed sports items to encourage youth to join Indian army as Agniveer during the medical camp. Pamphlets containing details of the Agnipath scheme were distributed and online registration desk-cum-document check facility was provided during the camp.
In a related programme, the same battalion of Assam Rifles organised a pre-recruitment drive under ‘Join Indian Army Agnipath Campaign’ at Aboi public ground in Mon district on July 18.
The event was organised with an aim to generate awareness of the Agnipath scheme and encourage the youth to join Indian army as Agniveer for brighter and secure future by serving the country.
The campaign was attended by Shakang Konyak, president of KU Aboi unit; Lipsing Konyak, president of ATSU; Shenwang Konyak, president of AASU; head GB of Aboi; and other prominent personalities of Aboi town.
It stated that more than 105 including 95 boys and 10 girls potential candidates were screened during the event.
Pamphlets containing details of the Agnipath scheme were distributed and an online registration desk-cum-document check facility was provided to the youth during the event.
