BN Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship
IMAPUR, NOVEMBER 9 : The fifth day of the preliminary league rounds of the ongoing 65th B.N. Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship 2016 at Police Complex, Chumukedima on Wednesday saw the goals raining in the fields, as 41 goals were being scored during the day in eight matches.
In Group C, Assam Rifles slaughtered Chandigarh Police 14-0 during the encounter. The results were also similar Group H and Group E as Meghalaya Police blanked their opponent 9-0 in another one-sided match while in Group E, Odisha Police outplayed Chhatisgarh Police 6-0.
In the other matches, Tamil Nadu Police defeated Lakshadweep Police 2-0 in Group A while Manipur Police prevailed over Andhra Pradesh Police with a same scoreline in Group B.
The Railway Protection Force team deservedly overcame Madhya Pradesh Police 4-2 in Group D.
However, the day was made memorable by an encounter between the Police teams of the two footballing giant states of West Bengal and Assam in Group G. The two teams were locked in a goalless draw till the dying ends of the match with neither team able to find the net. The tie was finally broken when the northeast team clinched a late winner to the despair of their opponent.
