Assam Rifles holds Ex-Servicemen Outreach Drive in Kohima

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles conducted an Ex-Servicemen Outreach Drive in Kohima on November 12 under the initiative of the Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR), Shillong.


According to a press release, the event was held at the Assam Rifles Kohima Garrison Battalion, where 85 veterans, veer naaris, and NOK family pensioners from Kohima, Jalukie, and Wokha districts under the Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA), Kohima, participated.


The programme was chaired by Merman Pradhan, president of ARESA Kohima, and Bobita Pradhan, secretary of ARESA Kohima. Officers from the Veteran Cell, HQ DGAR Shillong, including 2IC R. Pathania and assistant commandant Sudeep Lama, addressed and resolved grievances raised by veterans.


The outreach included sessions such as a lecture on ARESA initiatives, welfare policies, and available grants. A detailed presentation on ECHS benefits was delivered by the officer-in-charge, ECHS Kohima.

Representatives from SBI, ICICI, and Axis Bank sensitised the attendees on various financial and pension-related schemes.


As part of the welfare activities, the commandant of Assam Rifles Kohima Garrison Battalion distributed two walking sticks and four hearing aids to elderly ex-servicemen and NOK family pensioners.


More than 50 veterans benefited from the medical camp, and 55 ex-servicemen registered on the Sampark Setu App to enhance connectivity and access to veteran services.
