Assam Rifles evacuates blind students from Kakching in Manipur

DIMAPUR — The ethnic debacle existing in Manipur has resulted in the separation of family members and displacement of a lot of personnel.

An update from PRO (Defence) issued on May 18 informed that the Tamenglong Battalion of Jwalamukhi Sector Assam Rifles received a distress call from District Administration and parents of blind Naga students of Haikakpokpi Mission Blind school, Kakching who were stranded at the school.

Riflewomen of the Battalion coordinated with the local units of Assam Rifles enroute from Kakching to Imphal and played a significant role in evacuation of four blind students including three women and a boy were further evacuated and brought home safe at Tamenglong and Noney by the Battalion on May 17, the update informed.
