Dimapur, May 8 (EMN): Troops of 40 Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (North), donated ten solar street lights to Wangti village in Mon district on April 29.
The solar lights were expected to help in brightening the pitch dark area of the remotely located village. Solar street lights installed by Assam Rifles were received by the village council members followed with an interaction.

In another programme, troops of 9 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 5 Sector, IGAR (N) constructed and dedicated a bore well to the people of Zuketsa, Leshemi and Lasumi of Pfutsero sub-division in Phek district on April 25.
The bore well at Zuketsa village was inaugurated by Colonel Rajat Tyagi, Commandant of 9 Assam Rifles and Sinokha, Head GB of Zuketsa town.
In his inaugural speech, Commandant expressed concern on the scarcity of water in most towns and villages located at hilltops. He assured that Assam Rifles will always continue to bring basic amenities at the doorstep of locals in future too.
Meanwhile, the villagers have expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for providing a bore well.
In yet another programme, troops of 5 Assam Rifles organised a ‘motivational lecture’ for young minds of Old Natha village in Zunheboto district on April 29.
The aim of the lecture was to enlighten students on the importance of education in their future. Students were encouraged to take up higher education and plan for their career based on their passion, interests, strengths and skills.
It was followed by a lecture outlining on various kinds of entries to join the army for both boys and girls. It was an interactive event, which drew the attention of students especially from the girls who have showed enthusiasm to know about Assam Rifles and army as a career.
Holohon Yepthomi, SDO (C), Zunheboto, GBs, village elders and Natha Old students’ union members were also present on the occasion.
A total of 70 students attended the career guidance lecture which was followed by an informal interaction.
In yet another programme, troops of 15 Assam Rifles presented 25 plastic chairs to Government Primary School in Yakur village on May 2. Colonel Vineet Jaiswal, Commandant of 15 Assam Rifles presented the chairs to school principal in the presence of approximately 45 students and GB.
