Dimapur, June 16 (EMN): Chieswema battalion of the Assam Rifles has organised a drawing and essay writing competition on the theme ‘Say no to drugs’ at Zeizou on June 13.
The aim of the competition was to inculcate competitive spirit and bring out hidden talents among the students as well as spread awareness about ill effects of drug menace on human body, its negative consequences for individuals and the society. A total of 42 students from Classes VI and VII have participated in the competition.
Zunheboto battalion of the Assam Rifles has distributed sports items to Lukikhe village in Zunheboto district on June 13.
The aim behind the event was to foster a spirit of sportsmanship and encourage the youth to actively participate in sports activities. The sports items were handed over to Lashito Yephto, head GB of Lukikhe village, in the presence of Lukikhe village council chairman.
In another programme, Wokha battalion of the Assam Rifles has conducted friendly volleyball match with local youths of Chukitong village in Wokha district on June 13.
The event was conducted as part of “HIV/AIDS and drugs free Nagaland” campaign. The match was witnessed by more than 45 local youths of Chukitong region.
The same battalion has also organised an interaction with the Ex-Servicemen at Doyang on June 14. The aim of the event was to address the problems and grievances of ESM. A total of 10 ESM of the region participated in the interaction.
Meanwhile, Kiphire battalion of the Assam Rifles, collaboration with Zisaji Presidency College, has observed the World Blood Donors Day by organising a workshop cum drawing competition in Kiphire on June 14.
The risk of HIV/AIDS through blood transmission and the steps to prevent it were also explained. Altogether 32 students took part in the competition.
The same battalion has organised a lecture cum interactive session on “Drug free Nagaland” for people of Longmatre on June 14.
The aim of the event was to educate the public about the ill effects of drugs on an individual’s life and for the whole society. Various reasons for drug addiction and steps to overcome were also emphasised during the interaction.
