Addressing the gathering, the DGAR commended Hav. Mering Ao for his service to the nation and reiterated Assam Rifles’ commitment to promoting education, discipline, and personal growth among youth.

The centre will mentor students preparing for competitive examinations and provide training in personality development and skill enhancement, along with promoting physical and mental well-being. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and cultural performances.

Lt. Gen. Lakhera also visited the NIEDO centres at Medziphema and Chieswema to interact with students and review their academic activities and living conditions.

He met 103 students and staff members, encouraging them to work with discipline, determination, and hard work. He advised them to maintain a balance between academics, sports, and extracurricular activities.

The Assam Rifles also organised a tree plantation drive on the theme “Ek paed maa ke naam” in Meluri and Phek districts. The drive covered Phek, Avangkhu, New Thewati, Ziphu, Meluri, and Akhen, during which 2,089 saplings were planted with the participation of 112 residents.

The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainability.

In another outreach effort, Assam Rifles personnel visited Kendung village, located along the Nagaland-Manipur border adjoining Peren and Tamenglong districts. The team interacted with village elders, youth organisations, and children, encouraging the youth to participate in sports and pursue education.
