DIMAPUR — Assam
Rifles organised a tree plantation drive covering Avangkhu, New Thewati, Ziphu,
Meluri and Akhen under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative on Tuesday.
The event aimed to promote eco-conscious practices and
inspire a sense of responsibility among the children and the local community,
according to an update.
A total of 150 participants, including locals and Assam
Rifles personnel, took part in the drive, planting saplings and pledging to
nurture them.
It was mentioned that the initiative is part of the Assam
Rifles' ongoing efforts to support environmental causes and foster community
engagement.
Also, Assam Rifles assisted in organising a youth sports
festival in the village of Old Chalkot, Peren, held from January 26 to the
28th, with participation from local teams across the region.
Assam Rifles provided essential support, including sports
equipment and management, ensuring the event’s success.
At the conclusion of the festival, the Assam Rifles
distributed sports kits to the winning teams.
