DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles conducted a series of activities including parenting workshop and civic action programme (CAP) across various districts in Nagaland.
Assam Rifles organised a specialised workshop titled “Parenting with Bonding and Attachment” under the Rubaru Programme at Jalukie in Peren district on Tuesday.
According to a defence release, the session was designed to foster emotional resilience and strengthen familial bonds between mothers and their children, particularly within the unique context of military life.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome for newly arrived families at the station. The introductory segment aimed to create a supportive environment, helping new members integrate into the unit’s close-knit community while establishing a safe space for open dialogue.

The central segment of the workshop featured an interactive session where mothers shared their cherished “happy moments” as well as the “difficult moments” associated with raising children in a military environment. The discussions highlighted the shared experiences of balancing parental responsibilities with the demands of service life.
A creative activity further enriched the session, with families using photographs of their children to express a range of emotions, helping bridge daily routines with deeper emotional needs. The atmosphere was marked by empathy and mutual understanding, reinforcing a sense of collective support within the community.
The release stated that the session was widely appreciated for its interactive and engaging format. Participants described the workshop as an invaluable experience that offered both emotional comfort and practical guidance.
The programme concluded with a renewed sense of camaraderie among families and a shared commitment to nurturing the next generation with care and mindfulness.
Assam Rifles conducted a Civic Action Programme at Thetsumi village under Chizami sub-division, Phek district, aimed at promoting youth empowerment, educational support and women-led community development.
As part of the initiative, a computer set was distributed to the village youth organisation to enhance digital literacy, while sports items were provided to local schools to encourage physical activity and sportsmanship among students.
Chairs were also handed over to the village women organisation to strengthen its functioning, and a table tennis set was presented to facilitate constructive engagement among the youth.
The programme sought to foster goodwill, trust and cooperation between the security forces and the local population. Villagers, including students, youth members, elders and gaon burahs, participated and expressed appreciation for the support extended.
The event also featured cultural performances reflecting the rich heritage and vibrant spirit of the village community.
Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Spear Corps, accompanied by the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), visited Zunheboto on Tuesday.
The visit underscored the Armed Forces’ steadfast commitment to operational excellence and the welfare of veterans and their families. During the programme, the GOC interacted with Veer Naris, widows and Ex-Servicemen from both the Army and Assam Rifles.
One Veer Nari, two widows, eighteen Ex-Servicemen of the Army and two Ex-Servicemen of Assam Rifles were felicitated in recognition of their immense sacrifices and dedicated service to the nation. The dignitaries personally acknowledged their contributions and assured them of continued institutional support.
A dedicated grievance redressal interaction was also conducted, during which issues related to pension, healthcare, documentation and various welfare schemes were discussed. The GOC assured the gathering that all concerns raised would be examined on priority and necessary follow-up action initiated at the earliest.
Lt. Gen. Pendharkar also addressed troops deployed in the area. He reviewed the operational preparedness of the forces and commended the personnel for their professionalism, high morale and unwavering dedication to duty. The GOC emphasised the importance of maintaining operational readiness, fostering synergy with the civil administration and sustaining constructive engagement with the local population, the release stated.
