
DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles organised a medical camp at Dihoma village of Kohima district with an aim of extending comprehensive healthcare assistance and providing essential medicines to the locals.
According to an update, a total of 142 individuals, including 34 children, 47 males, and 61 females, underwent health checkups and medical examinations by the doctor and medical staff of Assam Rifles. Essential medicines were also distributed.
The event aimed to address the healthcare needs of the underserved population in the region. Additionally, attendees were educated about the benefits of good health and various lifestyle changes that lead to a happy and healthy life.
Assam Rifles distributed eight solar lights as part of the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme to the villagers of Choha Village in Mon district.
“The lights will provide much-needed illumination and security to the community, which has previously been without electricity,” the update mentioned, adding that the lights were distributed to households in the community, with priority given to those who were most in need.
The Assam Rifles have built a basketball court in the village of Hutsu, situated in the Phoyisha area of Meluri Sub-division, Phek district.
The project aimed to enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of the villagers, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship, particularly among the youth. It was emphasised that the initiative represents a step towards improving sports infrastructure in the remote village.
Additionally, the paramilitary force constructed a toilet block on the premises of the Government High School in Pokhungri village, situated near the Indo-Myanmar border in Phek district.
It was highlighted that the school administration, operating with limited funds and resources, encountered various critical issues, one of which was the absence of washroom facilities. This lack of facilities posed significant challenges for the students, particularly the girls, attending the school on a daily basis.
Given health and sanitation concerns, the school administration sought assistance from the Assam Rifles. Promptly,the force took the initiative to construct a washroom for female students.
Following the completion of the block, it was officially handed over to the school administration on Tuesday.
