Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): The IGAR (N) headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles organised an Assam Rifles Ex-servicemen Rally was organised at Kashiram Basti on on Nov. 10 which was attended around 250 people inclusive of ex-servicemen, their families and widows from Dimapur and adjoining areas.
The rally provided an opportunity for the ex-servicemen and widows to interact with various representatives of the DGAR (director general of Assam Rifles) for pension related and general grievances. A medical camp was also organised alongside to provide medical assistance to the ex-servicemen.
The medical camp facilitated the ex-servicemen to consult various specialists and doctors at a single location which included doctors of ENT, Eye, medical, dental and ailments of general nature. In addition, facilities for banking and guidance investment were provided by representatives of major banks. A CSD counter was functional to facilitate purchase of CSD items, along with facilities to renew CSD cards by ESM.
Addressing the rally, the DIG 6 Sector Assam Rifles welcomed the ex-servicemen on behalf of the Director General Assam Rifles and said that the event served as a common ground for the ex-servicemen and serving personnel of Assam Rifles to meet and share their experiences.
Saying that the rally provides the best available platform for the ex-servicemen to resolve their grievances and problems, the DIG further facilitated the Veer Naries and Veer Bahadur who attended the rally and thanked for their services to the Nation. The DIG held an “open forum” subsequently, where all ex-servicemen present were asked to highlight issues of concern.
Ex-servicemen, Sub. Maj (Retd) LT Ao, speaking on behalf of the ex-servicemen, expressed gratitude to the Director General Assam Rifles and all ranks of Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles for conducting a rally. he said that such rallies are an important even which helps to resolve issues of Ex-Servicemen in the area.
It may be noted here that the Assam Rifles has been organising such rallies in different poart of the state from time to time.
