Assam Rifles conducts civic initiatives, youth outreach, and cleanliness drives across several districts in Nagaland.
DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles conducted a series of civic action drives, educational exposure tours, youth training programmes, and community-centric activities across multiple districts in Nagaland.
Kohima: The Kohima Garrison of Assam Rifles is conducting a Seema Darshan Tour for 20 students and two teachers of Government Higher Secondary School, Rusoma village, Kohima district, under Operation Sadbhavana for the academic year 2026-27.
According to an update, during the ongoing tour, the students visited Tenga and Shergaon, where they interacted with senior military leadership and visited an apple and kiwi orchard, Ball of Fire Museum, Tenga Hut, and the local market.
The students also proceeded towards Tawang, visiting Jaswant Garh War Memorial, Jang Waterfalls, and other places of historical and national significance en route. At Tawang, the students witnessed a live firing demonstration of the Bofors gun and visited Bum La Pass, Sangetsar Tso, and Tawang Monastery.
The tour is scheduled to conclude on September 28 after visits to additional places.
Meluri: Assam Rifles organised 'A day with company commander' on September 25 at Meluri for the students of S Pethuri Montessori School, Meluri. The event commenced with a motivational lecture by the vompany commander, who briefed the students on the role of Assam Rifles, career opportunities in the Armed Forces, and the importance of discipline, education, and nation-building.
This was followed by recreational activities and fun games conducted for the children to encourage team spirit and physical fitness. A tree plantation drive was also organised where students and troops planted saplings together.
Mon: Assam Rifles distributed 20 solar street lights under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme (ARCAP) at Longkhao village and Tehingkuh colony in Mon district on September 25.
In another initiative, Assam Rifles organised “A day with company commander” at Company Operating Base S/Chingnyu in Mon district on September 26.
During the programme, students were familiarised with the history, traditions, and achievements of the force and were briefed on career opportunities in the Armed Forces. Sports and recreational events were also organised for the participants.
Tuensang: Assam Rifles conducted focused training and guidance sessions at Tuensang for local youth aspiring to join the Armed Forces through the Agniveer and Territorial Army entry schemes, along with preparation for Staff Selection Commission examinations.
More than 50 youths received training and guidance aimed at enhancing preparedness for upcoming selection tests, covering examination preparation, discipline, and test-orientated guidance.
Additionally, Assam Rifles conducted a Swachhta Abhiyan at Tuensang with the participation of students of Assam Rifles High School, Tuensang, and troops to promote awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental responsibility through collection and cleanliness activities.
Longleng: Mokokchung Battalion organised a friendly volleyball match in Longleng district with the youth and student representatives of Leinak Ward to strengthen engagement with the local community.
Pfutsero: As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, Assam Rifles organised a cleanliness drive at Pfutsero in Phek district on September 25.
Identified spots and high-footfall public places in Pfutsero were mapped and systematically cleared in a time-bound manner.
