Dimapur, May 12 (EMN): Director General of the Assam Rifles Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan visited Kohima as the guest of honour for the closing ceremony of the Assam Rifles U-19 Oorja CAPF Talent Hunt Football Tournament.
Updates on Thursday informed that the event was an initiative of the Prime Minister MSN XI Million to promote youth talents in football. Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO of HQ IGAR (N) issued a press release on Thursday.
During the two-day visit to the Nagaland’s capital, the director general met with the chief minister of Nagaland Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu on May 8 and “discussed security related issues of Nagaland and assured the honourable chief minister that Assam Rifles will live up to its motto of ‘Friends of the Hill people’.”
The director general interacted with officers and troops of the Assam Rifles and exhorted them to continue to perform their duty with dedication, it was informed.
