Troops of Assam Rifles have ‘successfully’ busted a functional arms factory run by NSCN (IM) cadre at 5th Mile, Dimapur (Nagaland), claimed the IGAR(North) based in Kohima.According to IGAR(N), acting on a tip off regarding arms manufacturing unit in general Area 5th Mile, Dimapur on January 4, the 18 Assam Rifles launched a search operation in conjunction with 32 Assam Rifles and civil police and apprehended one NSCN (IM) cadre with weapon, ammunition and other war like stores.
During the search one 7.65 mm pistol, 36 live assorted ammunitions, weapon spare parts, weapon making tools, SP capsule (Drugs) and incriminating documents including NSCN (IM) appointment letter were recovered, the IGAR(N) further claimed. On questioning the apprehendee was identified as ‘self styled Leacy’ Simon Yepthomi, son of Vikheshe, age 35 years, a resident of Unity village, 5th Mile, Dimapur, Nagaland. It is revealed that the individual was making weapons and supplying to other cadres of his group as well as illegal commercial sale of weapons to various arms peddlers of the region, the IGARN) added.
