The troops of 32 Assam Rifles apprehended one arms peddler from Thahekhu village, Dimapur after receiving information about his presence in the village.
The accused was suspected to be supplying arms and ammunition to insurgent groups in Nagaland, stated a release issued by PRO, Assam Rifles, Kohima, Nagaland. Based on specific input, 32 Assam Rifles conducted a successful operation under the aegis of Head Quarter 6 Sector Assam Rifles and apprehended the accused on October 16. During the operation, the accused was apprehended in possession of one point 32mm pistol with magazine and 14 live rounds. The apprehended person has been identified as H.Tokhezhe Wotsa, son of Hotozhe Wotsa, a resident of Thahekhu village.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that he is supplying arms and ammunition to insurgents groups in Nagaland.
“The success of the operation conducted by Assam Rifles has thwarted the nefarious designs of the insurgent groups who are using the arms peddlers to procure arms and ammunition with an intention to carry out anti national activity /against Indian security forces and government agencies,’ the release said.
