Dimapur, April 4 (EMN): Assam Rifles troops have apprehended an NSCN (R) cadre along with three civilians who were allegedly in illegal possession of arms and ammunition, in Longleng on April 1. A press release informing about the incident was received from the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (north) on Monday.
According to the press release the Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted an operation along with a police representative based on specific information in the general area of Longleng.
The apprehended persons were identified as self-styled “corporal” Mankub Phom, age 39 years; Taushong Phom, age 43 years; and another individual, a minor aged 17 years; and Phamugee Phom, age 34, the updates stated.
Nine muskets; a 12 bore, one .22 rifle with magazine, a .22 pistol with magazine; ten live rounds of AK-47; 12 live rounds of 12 bore, 46 live rounds for .22, 27 live rounds of 7.35mm; 50 gms of gun powder; brown sugar, and opium worth INR 1, 15, 000; INR 30, 742 in cash; and 13 bottles of liquor were confiscated.
