Assam Rifles apprehend NSCN (K) cadres

Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): Security forces have apprehended two individuals said to be cadres of the NSCN (K), during separate operations. The defence establishment issued a press release to the media on Monday informing about the enforcement activity. According to the updates, the security forces received specific information regarding the movement of an NSCN (K) cadre in a Maruti Alto, in Kohima. The Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles and the 164th battalion of the Territorial Army (Naga) under the aegis of the IGAR (North) established a joint mobile vehicle check post in an area at the TCP junction in Kohima on Nov. 10. The press release informed that the security forces apprehended a ‘finance secretary’ of the NSCN (K), one Avika Achumi, 30 years of age and a resident of 4th Mile, in Dimapur. ‘The individual was earlier booked under National Security Act and was on bail since December last year. The recoveries include two acknowledgment slip, seven cash receipt, three work permit, one stamp and incriminating documents, all of NSCN (K),’ the press release stated. A follow up operation was carried out by the Kohima battalion, the updates stated further. It led to the detainment of one Alo Rengma of the NSCN (K); 34 years of age and a resident of Chunlikha, in Tseminyu in Kohima district. He was stated to be an accomplice of Avika Achumi. ‘Mr Alo Rengma was earlier apprehended on 22 Jun 17 on charges of extortion and was released in Feb 18. Both individual along with recovered items were handed over to OC, South Police Station, Kohima for further investigation,’ the press release added.
