DIMAPUR, MAY 14: IN order to maintain security, peace and prosperity in the region, 12 BIHAR Regiment of 9 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of IGAR (South), organised an “Interaction and Security Meet” at Maibam Lokpatching, Nambol, in Imphal West district of Manipur on May 14.
The meet was attended by the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of Nambol Municipal Committee along with councilors, officials of Pradhan Association of Nambol, and members of Meira Paibi and ex-servicemen.
The Battalion provided the platform to discuss the security perspective of the area in view of the last Financial Budget and possibilities of UGs resorting to extortion activities. The officials of the unit, on behalf of Assam Rifles/ Army, congratulated the gathering on the success of 24 candidates of the State in the UPSC. During the meet, issues pertaining to youth, women empowerment and welfare of ex-servicemen were also discussed.
Meanwhile, the gathering appreciated the sustained efforts of the Assam Rifles in maintaining security and peace in the area. The event stimulated awareness in the minds of all present in the security meet while all members assured to provide full support to counter the problems of insurgency.
In another endeavor, 4 Assam Regiment of 26 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), organised an interaction with hunters from Molcham village and adjoining villages of Chandel district of Manipur.
The aim of the interaction was to educate the hunters about the safe practices of movement at night to avoid any untoward incidents and confrontations with security forces. The hunters were also advised to carry their licenses and to get their identity cards issued.
