Diphu, Sep. 1 (EMN): Charges were filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Diphu on Saturday against 48 persons including a minor, who were accused of involvement in the mob lynching incident at Panjuri village, Kangthilangso under Dokmoka police station. Two Guwahati youths were lynched during the incident.
After the June 8 incident the police have arrested around 250 people from the area of incident i.e. Panjuri Kachari gaon, Kangthilangso, which were in judicial custody. Out of the 250, 48 persons including a minor have been filed a chargesheet by the police to the court in Diphu on Friday.
During a routine hearing in an interval of 14 days according to court procedures, the 48 accused were today produced before the CJM court.
In a press conference that was conducted later in the evening at the official Chamber of SP, Diphu, the SP Dr. Prasad said, “We tried our best to file the charge sheet so that those having evidences are not missed. Out of around 250 people arrested 48 are given charge sheet today. We are very hopeful the court will give justice to the victims by awarding punishment to the convicted persons after the verdict is made by court.”
He also said dealing with cases of mob lynching is the most difficult task for investigation as more people are involved in the incident and from among the mob as to pick-up the accused.
