DIPHU — In a major step towards providing immediate medical aid to road accident victims, the Government of Assam has initiated the implementation of the ‘Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme-2025’as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH).
The scheme provides cashless treatment of up to INR 1.5 lakh per victim for the first seven days following a road accident caused by motor vehicles, informed the District Information Public Relation (DIPR) office, Karbi Anglong, in a press release on Tuesday.
As per the Assam Government notification dated June 14, 2025, all district commissioners have been directed to implement the scheme in their respective jurisdictions.

They are required to onboard the Transaction Management System (TMS) and Public Financial Management System (PFMS), open bank accounts with the Reserve Bank of India, and furnish the required data in the prescribed format on priority.
The scheme is being implemented using the eDAR platform under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. In addition, all District Road Safety Committees (DRSCs) are instructed to appoint a District Grievance Redressal Officer and ensure their contact details are widely publicized to assist victims, Good Samaritans, and hospitals.
