GUWAHATI — Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday distributed appointment letters to 439 candidates recruited across four state government departments, taking the total number of government appointments during his two terms to 1,65,749.
The latest appointments reaffirmed the state government's commitment to a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, officials said.
Of the 439 new recruits, 184 have been appointed to the Public Health Engineering Department, the highest among the four departments, they said.
The Cooperation Department accounted for 175 appointments, while 68 candidates were recruited to the Water Resources Department and 12 to the Labour Welfare Department, they added.
