DIPHU — Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, along with First Lady Kumud Devi, began his two-day visit to Karbi Anglong district, arriving at Diphu Railway Station on Thursday where he received a ceremonial welcome with full state honours.
The governor's reception featured a traditional Karbi welcome, complete with a garland and cultural performance by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
The ceremony was led by prominent dignitaries, including KAAC Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang, Principal Secretary Mukul Kumar Saikia, MP Amar Singh Tisso, MLAs Bidyasing Engleng and Darsing Ronghang, Deputy Commissioner Nirola Phangchopi, and Superintendent of Police Sanjit Kumar Saikia.

Upon his arrival, Acharya proceeded to Kajir Ronghangpi guest house, Taralangso. In the afternoon, he interacted with eminent personalities, social workers, and Padma Shri awardees of the district.
He later held a meeting with the chief executive member and executive members of KAAC.
In the evening, the governor held a departmental review meeting. Later, he also attended a cultural programme at Singmirjeng Achetai, Karbi People Hall, Taralangso, marking the conclusion of the first day of his itinerary.
