Dimapur, December 1: The chief minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal, who is in Nagaland as a guest of the state, inaugurated a showcase of Nagaland coffee on December 1 at heritage village Kisama, near Kohima town.
The symbolic Naga village is the venue of the annual Hornbill Festival of Nagaland.
The Assam chief minister was accompanied by Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang besides their cabinet colleagues from Assam and Nagaland in tow.
According to a government official, both Arabica and Robusta variety of coffee are being promoted in the state. The state took up development of coffee in Nagaland in the year 2014 in collaboration with the Coffee Board of India, with the aim to uplifting the economy of the rural people.
Coffee has a number of health benefits, such as lowering the risk of type-II diabetics, Disease, Dementia, Parkinson’s disease etc.
