- DIMAPUR — The ASMITA City Archery League, a
grassroots archery event for amateur athletes, was organised by the District
Sports Officer, Peren, in collaboration with the Khelo India Antony Centre,
Jalukie, on March 22.
- According to an update, the event took place at St. Xavier
College Archery Ground, Jalukie, under the guidance of archery coach Namdwayi.
- The competition was held in the presence of Dr. Fr. Francis
Cheerangal, Principal of St. Xavier College, who attended as the special guest,
along with District Sports Officer Wutsutho. Several under-16 students
participated, demonstrating their dedication to the sport.
- In the competition, Benthu Newami won the Gold medal,
Lungjiliu Chawang secured Silver, and Chungwanliu took home the Bronze, the
update stated.
- The ASMITA initiative (Achieving Sports Milestones by
Inspiring Women Through Action) focuses on promoting women’s participation in
sports by providing opportunities, encouragement, and support to help them
excel in various athletic disciplines. The programme aims to empower women,
boost confidence, and promote excellence in sports.
