Mokokchung, May 11 (EMN): Sakhi- One Stop Centre (OSC), Mokokchung, and Women Helpline-181 have jointly organised an awareness programme on violence against women at premises of the Chief Medical Office, Mokokchung, on May 9.
The programme was organised mainly to sensitise Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers regarding various abuses, violence and crimes inflicted on women in the society.
Wangshinaro Yaden, administrator of OSC Mokokchung, gave a brief introduction to the functioning of Sakhi - OSC. She highlighted on the services provided by the centre which deal with women affected by violence in public and private spaces within the family, community and at work places.
Enlightening the ASHA workers about their roles in reaching out to women affected by violence, Yaden informed that OSC would provide specialised services to aggrieved women facing any kind of violence.
Urban ASHA workers from different wards of Mokokchung attended the awareness programme. The programme concluded with an interactive session with ASHA workers followed by distribution of and IEC materials.
