Diphu, March 16 (EMN): The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) on Saturday announced its candidate to contest from No.3 Diphu Autonomous Districts ST Parliamentary Constituency for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
The party has fielded its president Holiram Terang, former minister of Assam during the meeting held between ASDC, KSA (Karbi Students Association) of Suren Hanse Faction and Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA).
Announcing the party candidate, ASDC general secretary Jotson Bey said, “the ASDC, KSA and KNCA have unanimously agreed to field our party president Holiram Terang as party candidate for ensuing Parliamentary elections from No.3 Diphu Autonomous Districts ST Parliamentary Constituency comprising the three hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and NC Hills.”
He said the party’s main objective is to fight for autonomous state, opposing Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and ST (H) status to Bodos living in hill districts and corruptions.
Regarding the party’s symbol “Boy and a girl,” party president Holiram Tearng clarified that the matter is still pending with the Election Commission of India. He is optimistic that the party will get back its symbol.
