- KOHIMA — After
being the chairperson of the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) for a
decade, Asano Sekhose, on Friday retired from the post.
- She joined the NBSE in February 1990 as academic assistant
and went on to become the secretary in September 2008. She assumed the post of
NBSE chairperson on August 22, 2014 and has been serving till date.
- Among others, digitising the physical records and documents
of the NBSE and introduction of NEP 2020 were notable achievements during her
tenure.
- "It is my greatest privilege to have served the NBSE in
various capacities for the last 35 years," Sekhose said during her
farewell programme held at NBSE in Kohima.
- She noted that NSBE functions like a close-knit family and
through the spirit of unity; they could carry out their duty smoothly. To this,
she said she owe her successful tenure to her competent team.
- Advisor of School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie
Yhome, commended the retiring chairperson for her effort in digitising the
records of NBSE and noted that the history of NBSE has become impeccable with
all records going online.
- He believed that a lot of children have built their career
with the marksheet provided by the NBSE, who in turn have become assets to the
society and elsewhere.
- “The idea of education is still important and it is crucial
that more institutions are created,” Dr. Yhome said.
- The commissioner and secretary of School Education and
SCERT, Kevileno Angami, expressed gratitude for her leadership and added that
she has rendered committed and dedicated service for the people.
- “The NBSE have credibility and its integrity is not
questioned particularly the way it conducted examination is way ahead of many
states,” the commissioner said adding that “Sekhose brought about improved
changes in educational system and had left an indelible mark to the school
education system.”
