Kelengulie wins ASA badminton title

Kohima, March 3: The Angami Sports Asssociation (ASA) indoor games competition concluded here at the Indoor Stadium, Raj Bhavan Kohima on Friday evening with Zhaleo Rio, Member of Legislative Assembly, Nagaland gracing the event as the special guest. In the men’s badminton single, 19 years old Kelengulie Seyie of Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) defeated Anozo Viswentso of Chakhroma Sports Association (CSA) in two straight sets to win the title. Kelengulie capped the title for both single and doubles on Friday. He beat Anozo 21-18, 21-18 in the final match of the ongoing Angami Sports Asssociation Golden Jubilee meet. He started with his attacking game and raced to an early lead at the first break. Anozo was caught unaware as Kelengulie’s swift movement and defense helped him retrieve everything to win the game with ease in two sets.

He masterfully executed his tricks in the final and beat his opponent.
In the second set, Kelengulie's momentum stayed with him and resulted in a comfortable win for him.
Meanwhile, Sahuzo Khaza of SASA bagged the 3rd place in men’s category.
Kelengulie also won the doubles title partnering Vikenietuo to beat Sohuzo and Jopi 21-18, 17-21, 21-12 in the final match.
In Sepaktakraw final, SASA beat WASA team 21-16,16-21, 21-16 to win the match.
WASA players were at their best performance in the first set to register a win but a comeback from the opponent and their missed opportunity led to their fall in the second set.
Even in the third set, the woeful performance continued for WASA as they lost the set to the SASA team.
NASA emerged as the 2nd runners up in men's Sepaktakraw.
In the women’s final, SASA defeated CSA 21-19, 21-06 to win the final while NASA team claimed the 2nd runners up position.
