Guwahati, Feb. 3 (EMN): As protests against Citizenship Amendment Bill continue to rip BJP off its allies with some pulling out of the party while others threatening to do so if the Bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha, the Assam BJP sure is trying to lift up people’s spirits with respect to the party in state. Assam BJP president Ranjit Kumar Das said on Saturday that the saffron party would rule the state till the sun and the moon exists once the 3.33 lakh pristha pramukhs (page in charge) begin their work. The Times of India quoted Das as saying, “I am not saying that BJP will be in power in Assam for the next five, 10 or 20 years. We will rule the state as long as the sun and the moon exists in this universe. But this can only happen after our 3.33 lakh pristha pramukhs are activated and they work relentlessly in reaching out to the people to highlight the achievements of our government”. Blaming Congress and Communists of conspiring to create disturbance in the name of protest, Dass added that BJP has no problem as long as the agitation remains democratic. “But of late, we are seeing that these protests are taking an undemocratic turn. The way our Tinsukia president Lakheswar Moran was manhandled recently is a glaring example of this,” Dass said. “Congress and Communists are playing a role in creating trouble. But our workers should not be demoralized. I salute your commitment and hard work which made it possible for the BJP to win the panchayat and the tribal autonomous council polls even at a time when protests are going on,” the Assam BJP president added.
