Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi today launched the ARUN-VIKAS where every second Wednesday of a month, he and all commissioners and secretaries will interact with the deputy commissioners of the state through video conference.The step has been conceptualised as a platform between the government and district functionaries and take up the issues of governance and development, held up due to coordination and lack of policy clarity for expeditious resolution, an official communique informed.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, after his video conference with the DCs recently, had desired an institutional mechanism must be put in place to have regular interaction between senior functionaries of the government and the district administration to iron out issues impeding development of the state.
In the first ARUN VIKAS video conference today, the Chief Secretary through video conference with the DCs, delved on various issues ranging from preparation of the Vision Document-2030, five years Perspective Plan and preparation of District Development Plan.
The matters related to expediting the process of Land Acquisition and Forest Clearance for major projects such as the Trans Arunachal Highway and Airports were discussed during the meeting, the statement said.
The chief secretary directed the DCs for disaster preparedness and situation arising out of the monsoon season.
The problem of opium menace was discussed at length and the Chief Secretary advised the DCs to curb the menace of opium cultivation by providing alternative livelihood through developmental schemes, the communique said adding the next video conference would be held on June 10 next.
