Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) has conducted an Inter battalion debate competition on human rights on June 9 with the participation of No. 1 Training Battalion, No. 2 Training Battalion, No. 3 Training Battalion and Diphu garrison of ARTC & S.
The topic for the debate was “Security forces are ineffective without respect for human rights.” A total of 16 speakers debated on the topic in Hindi and English ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion.
The main aim of this debate was to sensitize the troops about human rights and importance of their strict observance while dealing with the public.
Team of ARTC&S was selected for participation in ensuing Assam Rifles Inter Sector debate competition scheduled on June 20 and 21.
In Hindi debate, Recruit Raj Kumar, and Recruit Samsad Ansari were adjudged the best speakers ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion respectively, while Recruit RP Singh and L/Hav Pawan Kumar were declared the runners up.
In English debate, Recruit Vicky Kumar and Recruit Vinod Kumar were adjudged the best speakers ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion respectively whereas Recruit Suresh Arambam and Recruit R Simon were declared the runners up. The team of No. 1 Trg Bn was adjudged the best team with highest points and accumulated ranking and was awarded the Champion Trophy and prizes were distributed to the participants by the Chief Guest.
